WEEPI has launched 8 new Stage 1 projects, and 3 Stage 2 projects aimed at supporting research and improving prevention, testing and care for HIV, viral hepatitis and tuberculosis the quality of care for HIV, TB, and viral hepatitis across Europe and Central Asia.
The Stage 1 projects, starting in October 2025, focus on prevention, integrated care, stigma reduction, and treatment innovation.

- Preparing for Long-Acting PrEP in Central Asia (Estonia)
Exploring injectable PrEP with lenacapavir in Kazakhstan. - Evaluating Rifapentine-Based Shorter Regimens (Kazakhstan)
Assessing TB treatment regimens for people with and without HIV. - Doxy-PEP Acceptability and Feasibility Study (Ukraine)
Studying STI prevention integration in HIV care. - Index HIV Self-Testing Intervention (Ukraine)
Piloting self-testing to improve HIV detection among key populations. - Improving HIV and TB Treatment Continuity (Azerbaijan)
Investigating causes of treatment interruptions. - Ending HIV Stigma in Healthcare (Romania)
Training non-ID healthcare providers to reduce stigma. - Improving Viral Hepatitis Care Guidance (Ukraine)
Supporting policy and quality monitoring for hepatitis care. - Integrating HIV, Hepatitis, and STI Services in Mental Health Care (Ukraine)
Developing a model for integrated services in mental health settings.

Three organisations successfully completed Stage 1 projects were awarded Stage 2 grants and launched new initiatives in March 2025 to further support research and improve care for people living with HIV, TB, and viral hepatitis

Addressing barriers to hepatitis B program enrolment. - Drug Consumption Rooms and HCV Outcomes (Czechia)
Studying the impact of drug consumption rooms on hepatitis C care for people who inject drugs.
